Agricultural extension for long involves tremendous interpersonal\u00a0relationships and social drinking behaviors within agricultural network in\u00a0Taiwan. To clarify the values toward social drinking and its influential factors,\u00a0this study acquires agricultural extensionists\u2019 responses based on a\u00a0cross-sectional survey data consisting of 51 value items. As a whole, social\u00a0drinking is verified to facilitate interpersonal relationships to great extent.\u00a0Besides, male agent is more tolerated by the society to exhibit more social\u00a0drinking behaviors which in essence reflects Chinese traditions. It is of great\u00a0importance that social drinking is confirmed to possess functions of assisting\u00a0extension tasks significantly which presents an instrumental function different\u00a0from traditional values. Whatsoever, to perform heavy drinking behavior\u00a0seem to invoke significant condemnation. After all, the values are\u00a0theoretically divided into two constructs, values toward roles and functions of\u00a0drinking. Eight dimensions of values, named respectively \u201csocial skills\u201d,\u00a0\u201cmale dominance and tradition\u201d, \u201ctime-wasting and destructive\u201d, \u201creality\u00a0avoidance\u201d, \u201cwork and life mobilizer\u201d, \u201csocial relationships and health\u00a0facilitator\u201d, \u201cresource obtaining enabler\u201d, and \u201cstatus promoter\u201d, are\u00a0consequently extracted from the data. Among which, the values of \u201csocial\u00a0relationships and health facilitator\u201d and \u201ctime-wasting and destructive\u201d gains\u00a0homogeneously more endorsement from the sampled respondents, whereas\u00a0that of \u201cmale dominance and tradition\u201d and \u201cstatus promoter\u201d exhibits\u00a0heterogeneously least support. It is found that values toward social drinking,\u00a0moderated by extension system, tends to differ across varieties of\u00a0respondent\u2019s gender, class, social support, drinking behaviors, and job stress.<\/p>\n
