The purpose of this study is to formulate and testify the adjustment\u00a0theory of disparagement humor appreciation. This theory hypothesized that\u00a0people with different attitudes toward the subject that humor disparages\u00a0would have different humor appreciation. This study contains three\u00a0experiments; manipulating attitudes toward province, party and candidate\u00a0respectively to examine the hypothesis. All three experiments used two\u00a0independent variables – different attitudes toward the subjects that humor\u00a0disparages and humor that disparages different subjects; one dependent\u00a0variable \u2013 the assessment in different disparagement humor; two control\u00a0variables \u2013between subjects counter balancing design (using two kinds of\u00a0questionnaires) and using neutral jokes as the co-variable. Results were as\u00a0follows: (a) Experiment 1 showed no distinct humor appreciation in attitudes\u00a0toward different provinces; (b) Experiment 2 demonstrated that although\u00a0subjects favoring DPP had higher humor appreciation when reading jokes that\u00a0disparage the KMT, subjects favoring KMT or neutral had no difference in\u00a0humor appreciation when reading the jokes that disparage the KMT or DPP;\u00a0(c) Experiment 3 found that the subjects favoring Major. Ma had higher\u00a0humor appreciation when reading jokes that disparage Mr. Li, and vice versa.\u00a0It seems that our theory could approximately discriminate people with\u00a0different attitudes. Issues of sex, personality or stereotype might be further\u00a0examined in the future.<\/p>\n
