The paper aims to explore issues concerning the care of the\u00a0chronic illness sufferers from three perspectives. First, from the\u00a0perspective of social construction, the management of chronic illness\u00a0is so much focused on the symptom control that the physical,\u00a0psychological and the social progress of the patient\u2019s gradual loss of\u00a0integrity as a holistic person is ignored. Second, from the hermeneutics,\u00a0we will examine the need for the patients of chronic illness to resume\u00a0their voice, and how it could be done. Third, a \u201cwe-ness\u201d care pattern\u00a0that emphasizes an ontological care is proposed based upon an\u00a0evocation of the patients\u2019 need for empathy. Last but not least, from the\u00a0phenomenological psychological perspective, this \u201cwe-ness\u201d care\u00a0pattern will be examined from an ethical point of view.\u00a0Unlike patients with an acute illness, whose diseases can be cured\u00a0and their body restored to health within a relatively short time, patients\u00a0with chronic illness have to start up a new life with a deformed\u00a0physical situation. In this article, the stories of the chronically ill are\u00a0reconstructed from two selective narratives in other researches. It is\u00a0hoped that through attentive listening, a heterogeneous but\u00a0comprehensive understanding of the needs of the chronic illness\u00a0patients can be covered. And by enacting a \u201cwe-ness\u201d care pattern,\u00a0we can see the chronically ill patients as variants situated along a\u00a0continuum of modes of beings in the world and further provide them\u00a0with an ontological system that can offer healing by taking care of\u00a0their medical\/social\/psychological and other needs.<\/p>\n
