Kao<\/strong><br \/>\nDepartment of Psychology\u00a0Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou<br \/>\n<strong>Chie-fuh Wu<\/strong><br \/>\nInstitute of Human Resource Management\u00a0National Central University, Zhongli<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paternalistic leadership (PL) is the prevalent leadership style in Chinese business organizations. PL has three specific dimensions, i.e., Authoritarianism, Benevolence and Moral leadership. While Benevolence and Moral leadership refer to the warm consideration of the subordinates and exhibition of moralistic leadership activities respectively, Authoritarianism entails a stringent control and power play in the leader-follower relationship. In the development and management of the multinational enterprises, Chinese expatriate managers must face interact their subordinates with varied ethnic and culture backgrounds. In this study, we used Hofstede\u2019s Individualism dimension as the core value to differentiate the multinational and multi-cultural subordinates (N=160) in a large Chinese multinational corporation. We investigated the effects of Chinese expatriate managers\u2019 Chinese PL on these subordinates\u2019 mental health conditions measured by the General Health Questionnaire. The results were as follows: (1) Chinese expatriate managers with Authoritarian leadership style exerted significant negative effects on the subordinates\u2019 health conditions; (2) The dimension of Individualism in the subordinates\u2019 values could moderate the relationship between the Benevolence leadership and the subordinates\u2019 health conditions. In conclusion, Authoritarian Chinese leadership played a dominate role in causing a powerful negative effect on the subordinates\u2019 health condition. It is suggested that the practice of the authoritarian style of Chinese leadership be re-examined when dealing with the mental health aspects of the multi-cultural subordinates in the host  \u672c\u520a\u4ee5\u5275\u65b0\u3001\u5c0d\u8a71\u3001\u878d\u5408\u70ba\u6838\u5fc3\u7de8\u8f2f\u7406\u5ff5\uff0c\u5e0c\u671b\u900f\u904e\u5275\u65b0\uff0c\u523a\u6fc0\u65b0\u7684\u601d\u8003\u65b9\u5411\uff0c\u767c\u5c55\u65b0\u7684\u7814\u7a76\u4e3b\u984c\uff1b\u63d0\u4f9b\u958b\u95ca\u7684\u5712\u5730\uff0c\u4fc3\u9032\u4e0d\u540c\u7814\u7a76\u9818\u57df\u8207\u5178\u7bc4\u9593\u7684\u5c0d\u8a71\u8207\u5c0a\u91cd\uff1b\u5728\u5167\u5bb9\u53d6\u5411\u4e0a\uff0c\u5247\u5f37\u8abf\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u517c\u5177\u79d1\u5b78\u8207\u4eba\u6587\u7684\u672c\u8cea\uff0c\u4fc3\u9032\u7406\u8ad6\u8207\u5be6\u52d9\u7684\u878d\u5408\uff0c\u5f70\u986f\u61c9\u7528\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u7684\u7279\u8272\u3002  \u70ba\u78ba\u4fdd\u8ad6\u6587\u7684\u5b78\u8853\u54c1\u8cea\uff0c\u672c\u520a\u8a2d\u6709\u56b4\u8b39\u7684\u540c\u5115\u5be9\u67e5\u5236\u5ea6\uff0c\u7de8\u59d4\u6703\u4e26\u7db2\u7f85\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u7406\u8ad6\u8207\u61c9\u7528\u9818\u57df\u7684\u7cbe\u82f1\uff0c\u5168\u5fc3\u6295\u5165\u671f\u520a\u7684\u7de8\u5be9\u5de5\u4f5c\u3002\u672c\u520a\u5167\u5bb9\u4e0d\u50c5\u6d89\u7375\u570b\u969b\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u7814\u7a76\u7684\u65b0\u601d\u6f6e\uff0c\u4ea6\u878d\u5408\u5728\u5730\u672c\u571f\u7684\u5275\u65b0\u7814\u7a76\uff0c\u56de\u61c9\u7576\u524d\u793e\u6703\u7684\u95dc\u6ce8\u8207\u9700\u6c42\u3002\u6b61\u8fce\u60a8\u7684\u8a02\u95b1\u53ca\u8cdc\u7a3f\u652f\u6301\uff0c\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u70ba\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u7684\u5b78\u8853\u7814\u7a76\u548c\u5be6\u52d9\u5de5\u4f5c\u4e4b\u6df1\u8015\u8207\u8301\u58ef\u5171\u540c\u52aa\u529b\uff0c\u7d93\u71df\u4e00\u4efd\u6709\u7406\u5ff5\u3001\u6709\u7279\u8272\u7684\u61c9\u7528\u5fc3\u7406\u5b78\u5b78\u8853\u520a\u7269\u3002\"
