The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between adolescents\u2019 perceptions of maternal parenting practices, maternal attachment, and subjective well-being. The participants were 787 junior high school students who lived with their mothers in Taipei City or New Taipei City. The results showed that, first of all, the adolescents perceived their mothers as performing an above average frequency of \u201cwarmth\/inductive reasoning\u201d and \u201cmonitoring,\u201d and that their mothers rarely utilized \u201charsh corporal punishment.\u201d Moreover, regarding maternal attachment, the adolescents perceived a high level of \u201ctrust\/communication,\u201d and a low level of \u201calienation.\u201d As for their subjective well-being, the adolescents perceived a high level of \u201csatisfaction with life,\u201d an above average frequency of \u201cpositive affect,\u201d and a below average frequency of \u201cnegative affect.\u201d Secondly, the adolescents\u2019 perceptions of most aspects of maternal parenting practices and maternal attachment were significantly correlated with their subjective well-being; the only exception was the maternal parenting practices of \u201cmonitoring,\u201d which was not correlated with \u201cnegative affect.\u201d Finally, the adolescents\u2019 perceptions of maternal parenting practices of \u201cwarmth\/ inductive reasoning\u201d and maternal attachment of \u201ctrust\/ communication\u201d had significant positive effects on the aspects of \u201csatisfaction with life\u201d and \u201cpositive affect.\u201d In addition, the adolescents\u2019 perceptions of maternal attachment of \u201calienation\u201d had significant negative effects on \u201csatisfaction with life.\u201d Furthermore, the adolescents\u2019 perceptions of maternal parenting practices of \u201charsh corporal punishment\u201d and maternal attachment of \u201calienation\u201d had significant effects on \u201cnegative affect.\u201d<\/p>\n
